In 1994 Yasser Arafat received the world’s most prestigious award, the Nobel Peace Prize. According to
the will of Albert Nobel, the prize was to be awarded to the person who, in the preceding year, “shall
have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations.”
Does a man with 30-years’ history of terrorism belong in the company of Martin Luther King Jr.,
Mother Theresa, and the Dalai Lama?
What does it mean when a long-standing member of the Nobel Committee, such as Kare
Kristiansen resigns in protest, stating: “There has never been room for terrorists until now.”
Recently, a women’s group from Tulkarm protested to Yasser Arafat that their children were being sent
by the Palestinian police to act as human shields for armed Palestinian gunmen. (USA Today, Dec. 8.
2000) According to one mother, when school finishes, PA security guards go around collecting children
from the streets and sending them to the killing fields.
Parents who refuse to cooperate are threatened and branded traitors
Exploiting children to earn media sympathy is Arafat’s trademark (Jerusalem Post, Oct 27, 2000)
And yet, in 2000, Arafat was one of many Nobel Peace

When Arafat received the joint prize, in recognition of his role in the 1993 Oslo accords, he pledged on
behalf of the PLO to “recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist in peace and security”, “to
renounce the use of terrorism and other acts of violence”, and “to revoke all articles of the PLO covenant
which call for the destruction of Israel.”

To this day, Arafat and the PLO have never repealed the offending articles from the Palestinian
National Charter which violates the spirit of the Nobel Peace Prize
To this day, Arafat and the PLO have continued to use violence to try to achieve their goals
(Dennis Ross, U.S. Mediator, Artuz-7, January 19, 2001)

Arafat has a long and supportive history with another of today’s best known terrorists, Saddam Hussein.
Saddam Hussein recently pledged US$940 million to Arafat to support the war to liberate
Jerusalem
Saddam Hussein recently stated that he wants to shell Israel for six months from land and sea to
support the Palestinian struggle (Jerusalem Post, Jan. 17, 2001)
Arafat was one of the few leaders to provide unconditional support to Saddam Hussein during the
Gulf War

Since he signed the Oslo accords vowing to promote peace in the Middle East, Arafat has taken
hundreds of millions in funding from the United States and created a Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation
and an Education Ministry that features anti-semitic programming and text books; inculcating hatred and
inciting his people to violence and martyrdom.
There has never been a single Arafat speech, in Arabic, that calls for peace with Israel or
recognizes that all sides have the right to exist within secure borders
All Arafat’s conciliatory remarks are in English and never broadcast to his people
In 1995 the Washington Times reported that Arafat had used millions of dollars in international and U.S.
aid to fund clandestine political operations in Jerusalem. Later France’s Le Figaro reported that hundreds
of millions of dol
This was international aid money for the development Gaza and the West Bank (The Washington
Times, Aug. 5, 1995)
The PLO treasury disburses approximately $150 million annually to Arafat’s private accounts
(“Inside the PLO”, David Halevy)

Arafat's hatred of Israel has never waned.
1970 "The goal of our struggle is the end of Israel and there can be no compromise." (The Washington Post)
1980 "Peace for us means the destruction of Israel. "
(el Mundo, Venezuela)
1994 "The Jihad will continue. Our main battle is Jerusalem. It is not their capital. It is our capital." (Johannesburg, South Africa)
1995 "I say once more that Israel shall remain the principal enemy of the Palestinian people..."
(Speech in Gaza City)
1995 "By Allah I swear.... that the Palestinian people are prepared to sacrifice the last boy and the last girl so that the Palestinian flag will be flown over the walls, the churches, and the mosques of Jerusalem."
(The Jerusalem Post)
2000 "The embers of the intifada will continue until Palestinian independence, the return of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa to Palestinian sovereignty".
(Al-Sharg Al-Awsat, London)
